I wonder if the prisoners, looking at the sandstone, ever thought about its origin and how this rock came to our town... Thousands of years ago, there was a deep sea here, in the place Bystrzyca Kłodzka is today. There were layers of sand settled in the seabed forming three levels of light, creamy, and yellowish sandstones.
The rock has left its mark on the city’s history. Sandstone obtained from the nearby Fort Wilhelm was indeed used as material for constructing a railway viaduct and a teacher training seminar in Bystrzyca Kłodzka.
